Contrary to popular belief, not all fashion shows are filled with somber, black-clad, over-it models and editors. Case in point: the NY Couture show, which was held Saturday night at a jam-packed Webster Hall.

The crowd was nutso, and so were the clothes. Tunes from Cyndi Lauper, Ace of Base and Abba were spun while models playfully catwalked in larger-than-life tutus, cotton-candy colored Styrofoam ball hairpieces, bedazzled bras, scarves in the shape of snakes (think Bjork’s swan dress – in snake form), and skirts with sewn-on stuffed animals. And let’s not forget the frocks emblazoned with elephants, unicorns, and giant metallic bows. There’s no such thing as over-the-top in the NY Couture world, and designer Cassie Kogler (a self described “cartoon character”) is proof positive that you can – and should – have fun with fashion. Couture gone crazy, indeed.
