While New York’s fashion elite, including Anna Wintour and her army of Voguettes, continue to fawn over
during her paparazzi-studded stay at the Carlyle hotel this spring, not every tastemaker is enamored of the couture-loving lawyer.

“Who?” balks designer Isaac Mizrahi, when asked if George Clooney’s fur-crop-top-loving wife is NYC’s latest fashion icon. “No, I don’t think so. Absolutely not. Good-looking, but that’s where it ends,” Mizrahi tells Threads.
“She looks great all the time, but it always looks kind of, what’s the word? Tactful. She looks really tactful to me. And extremely beautiful. But I don’t think of her as a fashion icon. But that’s probably better — who really wants to do that?” Mizrahi adds kindly. (He was, after all, in charitable spirits, having recently hosted the annual gala for Good Shepherd Services, which assists at-risk city youths.)
Meanwhile, artist Mark Boomershine nixed the beautiful barrister from his upcoming “Revealed: Faces of Our Time” exhibit at the Surrey hotel, featuring 10 iconic portraits of everyone from Taylor Swift to Christy Turlington. “There were a couple [celebrities] that I rejected,” Boomershine tells Threads. “Like we tried Clooney’s wife, what’s her name? She’s absolutely beautiful and everything, but there wasn’t as much there for me as some of the other people.”
Fortunately, the renowned lawyer has plenty of couture sleeves to wipe away her tears.
