Diane von Furstenberg is in an enviable position.

She’s so popular with her buyers and the consuming public that she could probably send out paper bags and still get rousing applause. Lucky for us, she didn’t test that idea, but we do get the feeling some of her 43 outfits were not the newest bits on the floor.

She admits that she “wanted to live a man’s life in a woman’s body,” in her show notes, so she wants to use the jacket as armour and let the rest fall as it will. Luckily, most of it fell prettily. Her collection contained some really interesting bead-encrusted dresses and cardigans, three-dimensional tulles dresses and a leather bustier dress with tons of textured pieces and even a couple of wrap dresses. In a collection this big, there was something for everyone to love.

And what would a DvF show be without the FOD (friends of Diane) section? Charlie Rose, Anh Duong, Salman Rushdie, Marisa Berenson, Fran Lebowitz, husband Barrry Diller and so on took their spots in the front row.
