With Mickey Mouse set to turn 90 next month, Opening Ceremony is paying tribute to the iconic cartoon rodent with a Disney capsule collection for men, women and kids that hit the retailer’s site Monday.
Mickey fans got their first glimpse of the limited-edition line in March, when Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim staged a catwalk extravaganza dubbed “The Happiest Show on Earth” along Disneyland’s Main Street.
This isn’t your average toontown tourist memorabilia, however.
For instance, the collection’s $795 hooded, knee-length, fake-fur coat, boldly patterned with vintage-style Mickey heads, sold out in less than 24 hours.
Yes, faux real.
Still up for grabs are kiddie-cool pieces for adults including playful taffeta gowns, floor-grazing skirts and sweat sets, all priced from $125 to $695.
The collection’s two children’s tees are $45
Opening Ceremony joins several brands, including Oreo and Campbell’s Soup, that are commemorating Mickey’s milestone year.
Here’s hoping someone remembers to send Minnie a card — she’s turning 90, too.
