DIESEL
Six-year-old Frankie, sitting on her magazine editor mom’s lap, turned to me at Diesel and said the smartest thing I’d heard all week; “I don’t like fashion shows, they take too long to start.”
But, as usual, it was worth the wait. Diesel may not be groundbreaking, but it’s reliable. And, the denim is always good.
Shiny jean cat suits with tapered legs and zipper accents to glitzy, belted oversized trenches and mod mini tunic dresses had Wyclef Jean, Petra Nemcova and French Vogue editrix Carine Roitfeld smiling from their front row seats. Roitfeld especially seemed to like the Sienna-esque tiny high-waisted lurex and denim shorts.
Volume was a big trend for the company too, from consuming fur lined capes paired with a belt and jeans to loose trench coats with cargo pockets. And, tight, ruched mini dresses, coats and super tight skinny jeans in cool royal purple, a hot fall color, made several appearances on the runway.
But the real show stopper was the fabulous footwear, especially the gorgeous black slouch boots in slick leather and snakeskin that will look amazing with tiny skirts and leggings.
