Suit up. Or stay home.

Such is Donna Karan’s dress code for fall.

Working in her signature fabrics — jersey, crepe, chiffon, and stretch wool — Karan sent modern day dandies dressed up in black and charcoal suits done in every which way.

Silhouettes were strong-shouldered and double-breasted, mostly in the way of an oversized jacket. Softened with a sheer, pleat-back skirt, these looks embraced the boy-meets-girl (or in Karan’s case, man-meets-woman) trend that has come out strong for fall.

Pinstripes and sequins added femme flair to this very masculine collection. So did the trimmings: fly-away one-shoulder collars, formal white collars and cuffs (worn as necklaces and bracelets), and those smart little sparkly caps, which were perched so perfectly off kilter. Worn with that black glitter chiffon jacket and matching skirt, and consider us formally ecstatic.
