Sunday night’s Oscars may have been a relatively tame fashion decathlon, but the days that followed turned into a battle royal between good and bad taste. From Kate Moss’s all-black moment at Burberry to J.Lo’s blinged-out turn at Tom Ford, here are the women who know what works for them — and the ones who don’t have a clue.

Emma Stone

At the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty in LA, Stone nailed it once again in sequin-embroidered Altuzarra. Simply styled and just special enough, the look is bygone-era elegance meets modern sophistication. She gets double the points for matching her hair to the dress.

FKA twigs

For the Brit Awards in London, the singer chose an embellished Alexander McQueen cutout creation layered over flared pants. It’s edgy, yet far from excessive, and most importantly, breaks the litany of tepid award-show gowns.

Hailee Steinfeld

Give it up for Steinfeld, who consistently schools women twice her age on how to look both nice and non-boring. Case in point: this Byzantine-flavored Andrew Gn dress she rocked at the Vanity Fair party.

Kate Moss

Moss showed up to Burberry’s fall 2015 runway show in London in a head-to-toe black ensemble by the brand, effectively announcing that everyone else should go home.

Honorable mention: Taylor Swift

T. Swift must be taking notes from her high-fashion right hand, Karlie Kloss, because the chic, sultry Julien Macdonald number she wore at the Elle Style Awards in London is the exact opposite of the safe, sparkling dresses we’ve come to expect.

Christina Aguilera

Poor Marc Bouwer dress. She stretched you so tight that you cracked. (It’s the Vanity Fair party, Tina, at least try to not look like a hot mess.)

Jennifer Lopez

The only thing less appealing than the crusty-looking dress and fishnet peep-toe thigh-highs J.Lo wore to Tom Ford’s LA show is the diva’s overdone expression. How do you say “Give it up” in Spanish?

Lindsay Lohan

At the World’s First Fabulous Fund Fair charity event, LiLo turned up looking like Cruella de Vil. That is, if de Vil were a redhead and liked falling off tables at clubs. The leg bandage is the pièce de résistance.
