Gant by Michael Bastian
Good things are happening at Gant, in large part due to the germane paring between the brand and Michael Bastian.
Whereas his namesake collection took peacock attire to the max, Bastian loosened his sartorial straps and allowed Gant to breathe, resulting in a collection evoking the best of Americana casual and insouciance. Guys and girls were layered to the nines in every preppy separate possible — heathered knits, tartan, stripes, duck boots, beanies and cargo pants fitted enough actually to work. Everything felt young, like the type of gear lady killers wear on winter weekends at university. That said, this effort was another step toward the rejuvenation of the line from slumbering ole’ boy to big man on campus.
