Millennials are thirsty . . . for bargains.
In April, WWD reported that the clothing resale industry may surpass traditional retail, hitting an estimated $41 billion by 2022.
As a result, Goodwill, the charitable secondhand retailer, has introduced an Upper West Side concept shop, Curated by Goodwill NYNJ, geared toward the generation that loves used clothing.
The store opened in mid-July on 79th Street, near Broadway.
Its in-house stylists source fashion-forward clothing, accessories and home goods from retailers around the city, searching for what’s chic but cheap.
The concept comes from Fashion Institute of Technology students who participated in a Re-Imagine Goodwill contest that the charity organization held last year.
The goal? Attracting younger customers.
“Our main demographic is women 45 years and above,” Goodwill’s regional CEO Katy Gaul-Stigge told the Cut. “We wanted to bring in some younger shoppers, so we asked FIT students to re-imagine Goodwill.”
