HAUTE LIST
HOW much is that shoe in the window? $168 to $408, depending on your taste.
Peek into Henri Bendel’s window this week and you’ll see tattooed cobbler Sasha hammering, cutting and fitting customers in Tuccia di Capri, a choose-your-own-shoe adventure.
It’s genius: Customers stop in, pick their heel height, colors and embellishments — and the shoes are crafted on the spot.
The sandal company was started at the pool at the Raleigh Hotel in South Beach by friends and former models Terri Coleman and Tove Nord. The duo then headed to Capri and spent four months learning to make shoes, one by one, all by hand.
Now in New York, the shoemakers will be in the windows through July 20. After that, they move farther inside the store till Labor Day.
