Maison Margiela’s NYC concept shop

Maison Margiela is taking on a new twist in Soho with its Transitory Concept Store through July 2020. The work of two artists is currently on view — check out Jessi Reaves’ sculpture seating and Tabor Robak’s trippy jumbotron — with four more to follow. Enter creative director John Galliano’s world as you shop beneath an upside-down 47-foot mirrored runway. What a trip.

Faux-fur gets fabulous

Last year, Diane von Furstenberg announced her brand would go fur-free. Now, she has taken it a step further by teaming up with Apparis — a NYC-based vegan fashion label that delivers chic toppers — for an exclusive 4-piece line. DVF’s mod flair has been infused into the cruelty-free creations, which can be test-worn for the weekend via Apparis’ borrowing program every Friday, from 6-8 PM, at their 255 Canal St. showroom. How plush.

“Rear Window” inspired handbags

Mark Cross is moving back in with its first NYC boutique since 1997. Watch for the limited-edition “Grace” bags — not to be confused with their “Rear Window” bag, inspired by Grace Kelly’s overnight case in the classic Hitchcock film — hand-painted by Sophie Matisse, great-granddaughter of Henri Matisse. The art goes on: Danish artist Alberte Skronski created the papier-mâché displays as part of the brand’s “Artist in Residence” program.

Tidings of joy

It’s the most glittery time of year, and no one knows sparkle better than Miuccia Prada. The iconic Italian designer has become synonymous with that evasive It factor, and her offering this season — a delightfully modern and entirely embellished riff on the Mary Jane — is proof. Debuting on countless style stars during Paris fashion week this October, desire for these beauties shows no signs of slowing as holiday party season is in full swing. They come in multiple colors but we’re partial to this baby-blue pair for its ice princess vibes.

Four of a kind

Enamel has been around for centuries and it’s still a go-to for designers to play with color and technique. Mixed with diamonds or set in gold, these azure baubles are just as unique as they are beautiful.
