1. EXPRESS YOURSELF
Lanvin necklace, $945, and Manolo Blahnik pumps, $895, both at Bergdorf Goodman,754FifthAve. | Crop-top, $56, andskirt, $570, both at topshop. com | Clutch, $2,595 at Jimmy Choo, 716 Madison Ave.Elizabeth Lippman for The New York PostAnahita, the Post’s Deputy Fashion Editor, says: This trend is all about saying it with words — and what I love most is that there’s nothing trendy about it. Simply put: If you love it, wear it. Case in point: this Lanvin necklace. It’s playful, dramatic and makes a statement — literally! I used a boxy metallic crop-top as a blank canvas and paired it with a sequined skirt, which has a fashionable pink hue and past-the-knee length. To keep the look fully whimsical, I accessorized with polka-dot pumps and the most awesome little fur handbag from Jimmy Choo. Fashion is meant to be fun — cheers to that!
Top, $150 at cynthiarowley.com | Robert Rodriguez skirt, $345 at shopbop. com | Chinese Laundry sandals, $119 at piperlime.com | 3.1 Phillip Lim bag, $950 at Bergdorf Goodman, 754 Fifth Ave. | Chain-link cuff (right), $220 at susanhanoverdesigns.com | Nora Kogan cuff (bottom left), $330 at ABC Home, 881 Broadway | “Ciela” bangle (top left), $129 at sarahchloe.comElizabeth Lippman for The New York PostJohannah, the Post’s Fashion Market Specialist, says: Want to let people know who you are or how you feel? These days, you don’t even have to open your mouth! All you have to do is walk down the street, proudly sporting hats, T-shirts, sweaters, bags and even gloves emblazoned with words and phrases. Like this ultimate New York lovers T-shirt by Cynthia Rowley. Add some eclectic pieces (flirty lace skirt and mini animal-print bag) and I’ve got an outfit that says it all.
2. PRETTY IN PUNK
Vivienne Westwood Anglomania dress, $680 at net-a- porter.com | Tulle underskirt, $348 at Alice + Olivia, 431 W. 14th St. | Jean-Michel Cazabat pumps, $325 at piperlime.com | Belt, $22, and ring, $68, both at Trash & Vaudeville, 4 St. Marks Place | Clutch, $168 at nanettelepore.comElizabeth Lippman for The New York PostAnahita says: As someone drawn to the romantic and ethereal, I found this trend intimidating — until I realized that “punk” is awesome because anything goes. I accessorized this fantastically printed dress to suit my personality: The white tutu is femme, while embellished pumps and a studded belt add some edge. The rockabilly hair and bold red lips? A total throwback ’40s vibe. This modern mashup is so over-the-top fun; finding my inner punk-ette might be the best thing I’ve done all season.
Doris Q dress, $310 at nastygal.com | Alice + Olivia pumps, $345 at Bloomingdale’s, 1000ThirdAve. | Clutch, $55 at Pixie Market, 100 Stanton St. | Disturbia skull pendant, $26, and necklace, $8, both at Trash & Vaudeville | Alexander McQueen bracelet, $295 at Bergdorf GoodmanElizabeth Lippman for The New York PostJohannah says: I know the words “pretty” and “punk” are seldom used in the same sentence. But when you have a trend like punk that has serious staying power season after season, you have to change it up a little. Sheer net cut-out details add feminine flair to this boxy dress. Grab a cool patch-covered clutch, slip into some sky-high plaid pumps — and there you have it: the softer side of punk.
3. DARK ROMANCE
Motorcycle jacket, $119, and dress, $79.90, both at Zara, 666 Fifth Ave. | Dsquared2 pumps, $545 at couture.zappos.com | Kismet ear cuff, $1,380 at fragments.com | Matt Bernson pavé rings, $20 each at 20 Harrison St. | McQ by Alexander McQueen clutch, $295 at shopbop.comElizabeth Lippman for The New York PostJohannah says: Moody, dark florals were in bloom on the fall runways, from demure dresses at Lanvin, punk/grunge silhouettes at Givenchy and even quirky appliqués at Christopher Kane. The choices are endless, so when I put together this outfit, I was inspired by a mix of “La Dolce Vita,” film noir and ’50s greaser. Whether worn together or separately, these are some of my favorite sleek picks.
“Madeleine” dress, $950 at Jill Stuart, 100 Greene St. | Manolo Blahnik for Zac Posen heels, available for special order at Manolo Blahnik, 31 W. 54th St. | Eugenia Kim crown headband, $275 at net-a-porter.com | Tuleste earrings, $60 at shopbop.com | Belt, $750 at Oscar de la Renta, 772 Madison Ave.Elizabeth Lippman for The New York PostAnahita says: Designers gave the idea of fairy-tale romance a modern reboot: laser-cut lace, embellished dresses in moody hues. I love this Jill Stuart frock because it captures this trend in the most decadent way: burgundy floral appliqués, a swinging cape and a modest neckline that contrasts with a flirty skirt. The Oscar de le Renta belt adds sparkle, while a gilded tiara drives the modern-day-princess point home. All hail.
