Well, that blows.
Maggie DePalo, a comedian from Chicago, asked for a blow-out with volume before a big show — and what she got blew her away.
DePalo posted a TikTok video on November 7 that has since gained over 1 million views by modeling her comically big hair, joking that it’s the look of a woman who wants to “speak to the manager.”
Ironically, she was too embarrassed to complain to the manager while looking like someone who does.
“Hard to ask for the manager when you’re sporting the Ask for the Manager,” she captioned the video.
DePalo detailed just how she got into the hairy situation in her TikTok video.
She said it was her first time at the salon, and she was thrown into a chair to get her hair washed before multiple people went to work on her coif.
“Multiple people ferociously use round brushes on you, so many round brushes,” she said.
“At one point, my head was way down, and when I looked up, and I came to, somebody else was pouring some white powder on my hair. The woman that was originally doing it is now answering the door, and they’re selling purses.”
A woman shared her hair ordeal on TikTok. Maggie Hughes DePalo/InstagramUpon realizing she wasn’t happy with her results, she decided not to speak up — though admitted in hindsight that she wished she did.
“Let’s just say it wasn’t exactly what I had anticipated, but I was too afraid to ask for the manager because I’m white and I have blonde hair, and I don’t wanna end up on the 9 o’clock news,” she said.
She told women to give honest feedback to their stylists before giving her viewers a “trigger warning” prior to showing off a photo of her very big hair. Although, DePalo didn’t harbor any animosity toward the salon.
“I want to stress my intent of sharing the video was more to poke fun at my expense, than it was to badmouth the salon. I am a comedian and although it was a true account of what happened, at the end of the day the salon didn’t do anything wrong. I could’ve said something, and didn’t because frankly I was a little stunned at the end result and thought ‘well this isn’t the look I want to go back in and complain with!’ she told The Post.
Her hairstyle was way overblown. Maggie Hughes DePalo/Instagram“The whole experience lasted less than 20 minutes, they have you in and out and the gal thought it looked really good, I didn’t have the heart to tell her it was awful and quite frankly I don’t think my hair would’ve survived a redo;) It was intended to make people laugh, at my extent, not to bash the salon which is why I don’t name them,” she added.
Viewers shared cheeky comments about her overblown look.
“That wasn’t a hair blower, it was a leaf blower,” one said.
“You didn’t step into a salon… you stepped into a Time Machine,” another added.
“The way I gasped and said No they didn’t ☠️😂,” a third chimed in.
She used her big hair as a shtick.
“I brushed my hair out a bit and wore it pretty big to my show, if you saw me at Zanies that night you’d probably say I’m taller in person,” she told The Post.
