We got notice this morning that London designers Gareth Pugh, House of Holland (by Henry Holland), Roksanda Illincic, and young designer sponsorship scheme Fashion East will be presenting their F/W2008 collections in a former mental institution… More after the jump. Newly-awarded the BFC Fashion Forward bursary, in association with Westfield London, ROKSANDA ILINCIC chooses the historic surrounding of Aurora with it’s priceless glass dome, to host her London show, taking place on Wednesday 13 February as part of THE BLOCK, a group of consecutive shows, that includes: Gareth Pugh, House of Holland and Fashion East. Together they are all set to let off fashion steam that evening with a BLOCK PARTY hosted by Moet & Chandon, again within the exquisite atrium of Aurora at ANdAZ hotel.

ANdAZ (formerly Great Eastern Hotel) takes a new approach to luxury hotelling. Gone are the stuffy traditions of Jeeves & Wooster in favour of a more relaxed, down to earth experience (still with all the 5 star trimmings), call it casual luxury, ideal for an East London knees up! ANdAZ was built on the site of the first Bethlehem Hospital, which was a mental institution. The hospital would open it’s doors to the public to watch the freaks so to speak, where the term Bedlam originates.

Andaz is situated at: 40 Liverpool Street EC2M 7QN
