Janelle Monae is topping the red carpet style must-watch list.

Sure, the acclaimed musician and actress has been around for a while, and she always shows up in her signature black-and-white (and sometimes red) ensembles — but Monae is proof positive that the simplest colors can compete with even the most vivid tones.

Having starred in the buzzy film “Moonlight” in 2016, her latest promotional tour for the new movie “Hidden Figures” has allowed her to showcase her love of opposing colors — not to mention adding some feminine flair to her usual tomboy looks.

While she may not be a nominee at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, she has our vote when it comes to style.
