KAREN WALKER
It’s Day Two and designers need to lay off the lurex already.
At Karen Walker, it was more of the same. The metallic yarn, highly offensive when used with extreme frequency, crept into the New Zealand designers rib dresses, capes and sweaters, at least 9 times out of 30 looks.
Walker tries to blur the line between menswear and womenswear, sending down the runway wooly pleated pants, double breasted shirts and jackets and boxy sweaters along with a strange assortment of lightning bolt print Lycra leggings, a mini dress and a cat suit. All together it was underwhelming and pretty unwearable unless you’re a shapeless stringbean.
But, her winter headgear is genius including stylish balaclavas, cozy wool berets and an assortment of aviator hats.
