Fashion loves the cowboy look. It’s likely because many designers moonlight as film buffs and make clothes in homage to romanticized Western flicks — like “The Magnificent Seven,” a remake of which comes to theaters Sept. 23. For the young’uns among you, the highly anticipated new movie — in which Denzel Washington plays a bounty hunter and leader of a seven-man squad that includes Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke — is based on the 1960 movie of the same name starring men’s style god Steve McQueen.
In his Stetson hat and shirt unbuttoned to the navel, McQueen made the dirty, violent American frontier seem as sexy as Studio 54. At least that’s what Alessandro Michele must have been thinking when he sent a model down Gucci’s fall 2016 runway in a dragon-embroidered Western blouse, denim flares and gold metallic boots. And that’s the cool thing about this season: There’s a saloon-worthy something for every type, from the dude intrepid enough to rock florals to the low-key ranger who doesn’t horse around — except when it comes to the stallion on his signet ring.
