MICHELLE OH!
ALL eyes will be on Michelle Obama tomorrow, but her look has already inspired a lot of admiration – and sales.
The first lady of style is the walking embodiment of the high/low mix: She’s Harvard Law, but shops at H&M. When she wears fast fashion, she makes it her own by changing a belt or adding a brooch. With high-end, she shops local and promotes American design on the world stage.
In honor of her official ascension to the fashion spotlight, we’ve assembled a guide to where to get her look now – from past outfits, including election-night dresses, as well as clothes from her favorite designer, Maria Pinto.
HOUSE HUNTING
When the Obamas toured the White House with the Bushes after Election Day, Michelle Obama donned a red sheath that she had bought in the summer from Chicago designer Maria Pinto. The dress retails for about $750. Pinto had hoped she might wear it Election Night, but Obama opted for the red-and-black dress by Narciso Rodriguez.
