When Eva Longoria is one of the few bold-faced names to appear at a show, you can be sure it’s going to be a chintzy, loud and over-the-top affair. Though known for his overly embellished eveningwear, Nameen Khan is slowly learning thing or two about paring down. He started off with a beautiful series of peony embroidered dresses and coats (so chic that the fox fur cuffs on some could be forgiven), and kept his momentum with a plum chiffon floor-length gown decorated with crystals. But he took a turn towards unfortunate excess with pearl-covered columns, a gold-coin halter mini and a python-sequin backless column. As these dresses treaded down the catwalk (they were so heavy, the models could barely walk), embellishments came flying off and littered the runway like some sort of tragically glam graveyard. Khan should take note for his collection next season.
