Something has gotten into Nicole Miller and it’s rough and tumble.

Even she admits it in her show notes — “The girl has a tougher edge.” The thing is, the girl has the edge that many of the really young designers had last season with bike shorts, leggings, scuba stretch pants all in black, black and more black.

If you remember Miranda Priestly’s monologue about cerulean in “The Devil Wears Prada,” Nicole Miller proves that there is truth to the trickle-down fashion cycle theory. Now, whether that’s good or bad for the Nicole Miller customer is another story.

There’s lots of the aforementioned black, sheer bits, short little skirts with interesting pleat details and sleeveless blazers. This really sums it up, but surprisingly, we didn’t hate it. It’s just kind of confusing.
