We all know “vintage” or used, is radically overpriced in this city, but this weekend I came across a particularly galling price tag. The vendor on Prince near Mercer that sells overpriced T shirts was hawking these amazing but well worn sneakers – a relic from the glory days of Spuds Mackenzie, the original party animal and beloved Bud Light mascot.

I love Spuds. And I love slip on sneakers. Name your price, woman.

She casually turned them over to show me the $160 price tag on the dirtied kicks. Surely, I am the biggest/only Spuds fan out there(I had a big poster of him surfing on my wall when I was a kid), and I couldn’t even consider it.

So kitschy T-shirt vendor, if you read this, please drop me a line to let me know if, when, and to whom you sold them. I want to know who is dim-witted enough to drop those kind of duckets on shmutzed up shoes that probably originated on the feet of some mulleted muscle T man who won them in a dodgey bar raffle outside a St. Louis Cardinal’s game back in ’88.
