When it comes to Brazilian fashion, Oskar Metsavaht is a rock star. With a rugged adventure filled life, the medical doctor cum designer is the edgy Jay Peterman with a surf board.

Gotham was finally treated to his lifestyle label with the opening of his Osklen stores in Soho (Wooster near Spring) and the Meatpacking District in June. They are still relatively under the radar. Chalk it up to the slug pace of summer. I have no other rationale.

But I had a chance to chat with him on Saturday while he was here for the unveiling of their fall line and to catch his dear friend, Narciso’s show. He’s a super cool dude. Count Calvin, Mr. Rodriguez, and Diane among those who agree.
