Peter Som has earned himself a loyal socialite following, and with clothes like those in his Fall 07 collection,

it’s easy to see why. He had Tinsley Mortimer and Camilla Belle sitting front row, where they had the perfect

view of model-of-the-moment Irina Lazareanu ditching her orange patent leather shoes on the catwalk and

finishing her walk barefoot. Other than that minor blip, the presentation was as smooth and sleek as Som’s

consistently sophisticated clothes.

This was a collection for those with an appreciation for detail–and well-placed bursts of unexpected color. A grey

funnel neck sweater and slim charcoal pants look had a jolt of chartruese silk peeking out at the neck, while an

otherwise sweet but unremarkable little black dress benefited from a sensual streak of magenta in the back. The

tailoring was excellent all around, particularly in a chiffon ruffle-neck blouse and slim tuxedo pant that evoked

YSL, but with a decidedly modern twist.
