The recent outbreak of the coronavirus near Milan compelled Giorgio Armani to cancel his Sunday presentation — but there was no stopping Philipp Plein, whose Saturday evening show pulled out all the stops.

A gilded fighter jet, boat, cars and even helicopters emblazoned with the Philipp Plein logo were stationed around the runway, lending the affair a military-meets-decadence air.

Following a performance by Tyga, actress Jada Pinkett Smith opened the collection. With that, the stage was set for a production featuring stars from varying platforms. Among the models walked famed German photographer Ellen von Unwerth, with camera in hand; Maye Musk, supermodel and mother to Elon Musk; internet personality and actor Cameron Dallas; and YouTube celeb Gigi Gorgeous.

The flashing lights and familiar faces took the focus from the fashion, but only for a moment. The clothing was everything one expects from Plein — a designer who has, quite literally, no limits. See: the evening’s theme of excess, as well as the name of both the show and his new fragrance. Animal print was in abundance as were rock-and-roll-ready motorcycle jackets. Body-hugging gowns and thigh-high patent-leather boots matched the golden vehicles.

Keeping with the theme of no limits, Plein honored the late basketball star Kobe Bryant — whose dedication to the game of basketball was indeed limitless — and his daughter Gianna. Models donned crystal-encrusted number-24 Lakers jerseys, and Plein announced he would make a donation to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation.
