Alice Roi stopped showing at fashion week last year. Her prim-and-proper- with-a-wink-designs were missed, but she’s popped up on Canal Street. Roi has teamed up with her sister and fellow designer, Sarah Luna to launch a space at 27 Canal at Essex St.

“I wanted to take a break, so I am focusing on the store right now,” says Roi of her hiatus.

What can we expect?

Some of her older togs at sample prices and her newest collection for spring ’08. Her sister’s colorful boho designs and new houseware line are also on the block.

The shop is up indefinitely, so they aren’t divulging when the walls are coming down. And it’s right on the cusp of the burgeoning area below Delancey. It’s definitely worth a trip to check out a great boutique in an area about to blow up.

Alice herself will probably be there herself to ring it all up.
