Designer Tia Cibani tends to like to work in chunky, textural fabrics that aren’t especially flattering to those who wear them. There’s something to be said for an artist who sticks to her chosen media, but shouldn’t she, as a clothing designer, work this out? Case in point is the outfit Cibani opened with. It was described as a mesh knit dress, but looked more like a sandwich board — losing the model completely. There were several looks that wore the model like that, in particular an apron dress made of leather, any of the metalline pieces and a leather-trimmed coat. All of these pieces would have benefitted from some refinement. After all this clunk, there were a couple of good looks, in particular her neoprene pieces that looked and moved slickly like satin.
