It’s one thing to wear boyfriend-inspired clothes. It’s quite another to look like you might actually be wearing, well, your boyfriend’s clothes.

Such was the case at Richard Chai Love.

The designer tackled some key trends (long, pleated skirts, boxier-cut jackets, as well as trousers), but his loose interpretation – complete with baggy or asymmetrical cuts – came off more bag lady than Olsen twin chic.

And for a brand with such a hard-core fashion fanbase, even the most die-hard might resist attempting one of his overtly oversized blazer-pant-and-kilt combos.

Luckily, Chai served up a healthy dose of his classics: ankle-grazing knit dresses, lightly embellished slinky tops, and the most chic sleeveless shawl collar coat that closed the show – all in quiet shades of oatmeal, nutmeg and cream.
