Coming from a long line of Basque fishermen from coastal Spain, I’ll blame the bloodlines for my shine for salty stripes.

But there’s something so effortlessly chic and timeless about a navy striped top that classes up any old outfit. It’s always said jet set to me.

So as my favorite shirts that I bought at a nautical store near my family’s hometown in Spain begin their holey pilgrimage into the garbage bin, I’ve bulked up my collection with durable ones from LL Bean. I have some hoodies from last year and just got this Classic crewneck in the mail. The Gap also has them on sale for $9.99 and Old Navy has a nifty navy hoodie lined with white stripes.

Much to my chagrin, Jack Gomme closed their Elizabeth Street boutique, but they’ve always been good for smart tops and handbags(pictured below) that virtually smell of bouillabaisse. And piperlime.com has Natural Comfort striped wedges on sale.
