Rihanna, one of the most beautiful newcomers to the pop music scene in the last year, turned up at last night’s Billboard Music Awards looking great from, uh, head to neck and waist-down.

What’s with the top? Did she forget it at home?

In the world of necklines, there are plunge-necklines and there are gaping suspender-like halter-tops. Rihanna’s dress featured a vast chasm of fabric-less-ness across her chest. Sure, it’s meant to be sexy, but it turned what could have been a gorgeous, starlet turn on the red carpet into something that looked a little bit trashy.

A classy low-plunging neckline would have, at least, featured a more significant taper in the gap the closer it got to the base of her torso. Seriously. I mean, you can’t say I’m not making allowances — I just wrote that a neckline that tapers to meet ‘at the base of the torso’ would have been classier.

Love you Rihanna, but fire your stylist.
