Style giants
Giants fans weren’t the only ones sporting blue after their mega-victory over the Green Bay Packers last night. Blue was also the winning hue at the 69th annual Golden Globes, showcased in every shade — from Tilda Swinton’s cornflower suitdress by designer Haider Ackermann to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s cobalt tie-dye ballgown.
But it wasn’t a clean sweep for cerulean. Actresses turned up in every color of the rainbow, offering up a delicious Skittle-effect. Starting off the spectrum was Reese Witherspoon, who served up her décolletage in a scarlet Zac Posen gown. Stacy Keibler reminded us she’s one red-hot piece of arm candy in a slinky number, while Maria Menounos sparkled in yellow sequins by Blumarine.
“New Girl” Zooey Deschanel’s neon lime dress was all good girl in the front, sexy starlet in the criss-crossed, skin-baring back. Evan Rachel Wood strutted like a peacock in green feathers, as Freida Pinto stayed on-trend in retro teal Prada.
Fashion darling Michelle Williams steered clear of any Marilyn Monroe-like halters and opted instead for blue velvet from Jason Wu, while “Revenge” star Madeleine Stowe borrowed from the spring 2012 runways for inspiration: her violet gown was accented with the season’s freshest silhouette — the peplum. At the end of every rainbow, you may find a pot of gold but, in this case, it was purple.
