plays Stephanie — a slim, messy-haired, parka-wearing, disenchanted-with-the-world, sleepy-eyed, dreamy-creative Parisian girl next door.

(As if that weren’t perfection enough, Stephane, the idealistic-dreamer boy next door, played by super-cute Gael Garcia Bernal falls hopelessly in love with her.)

In real life as well, Gainsbourg is picture-perfect effortlessly chic in that way that only women who’ve lived in France for most of their lives can be. She rarely wears conspicuous make-up, maintains a sleek, elegant figure, and wears obviously expensive (but, still, understated) clothing. To get the look:

– Perfect skin is a must. If you’re blemished, don’t even think of going out au naturel — try MAC’s Studio Fix, a Hollywood and fashion favorite for covering up everything disagreeable without a caked-on feeling.

– Messy hair is best achieved using the extraordinarily complex “wash-and-go” technique. If you’ve got naturally curly hair, okay, you’ll have to get a blow-out. Any texture hair will benefit from a good-size dab of Jonathan Product DIRT, a water-based paste that gives your hair a delicious fragrance as well as the just-slept-on look.

– Pull on some skinny jeans and a knee-length army-inspired parka and you’re good to go!

No Hollywood polish here. It’s all about letting your natural quirkiness and beauty shine through.
