LOU WALLACH, 41, TELEVISION PRODUCER Vacation beard style: Full-on fuzz, “but well trimmed.” How long has your latest beard lasted? A month, and still going. Where’d you start it? Around town. Does anybody want you to shave? My wife has never liked it, still doesn’t. Each time I grow one it becomes a negotiation with her. We’re still locked in talks. What’s your facial hair philosophy? Just for s – – ts and giggles. I once grew a huge beard and then shaved everything except the mustache. Right now, I decided that during the hottest summer in years, I’d grow another one. My wife looked at me and said, “Ugh, you’re growing the disgusting beard again,” and I said, “Yup.” I [keep] it trimmed, but my problem is it’s all different colors. Eilon Paz

ERIC BAMBERGER, 38, FOUNDER OF AN INTERNET MARKETING COMPANY Vacation beard style: El scruff. How long has your latest beard lasted? One week after I got back to work. Where’d you start it? While vacationing in the Hamptons. What made you shave? Work! I kept it for five days because I’m one of the bosses. But I had to shave before a client meeting. What’s your facial hair philosophy? The trick is to tell your boss you have skin irritation — and then they realize it’s OK for you not to shave. Then you start pushing the envelope a bit until someone says something. Tamara Beckwith

ADAM KLAPPHOLTZ, 26, IVY LEAGUE BUSINESS SCHOOL STUDENT Vacation beard style: The Grizzly Adams. How long has the latest beard lasted? 11 weeks. Where’d you start it? While hiking across Spain What made you shave?: An impending job interview. What’s your facial hair philosophy?: Simply put, I wanted the biggest, most impressive beard possible. As for style, my beard is not styled, and that’s a style all in its own. Instead of choosing between classics like imperial whiskers or the now-popular waxed mustache, I just wanted to see where my beard would go after three months. In 2003, I attended the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Carson City, Nev. All those guys were great inspiration, albeit an impossible goal. Jonathan Baskin
