Bike shorts for spring? Groundbreaking.
The fashion industry seems to think so — or maybe they just took a page from Yeezy-era Kim Kardashian’s style book by taking the high-end athleisure trend to the next level.
But these aren’t your run-of-the-mill stretchy bottoms.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell closed Virgil Abloh’s Princess Diana-inspired Off-White show in a white ruffled blazer with matching cropped spandex leggings.
While Campbell’s sexy look certainly wasn’t exactly something Lady Di would’ve donned, the $400 price tag of these haute thigh-huggers (which are now available for pre-order) suits the royal set.
Bella Hadid validated this look further when she took a black style for a spin during Paris fashion week in September.
Designers like Fenty x Puma by Rihanna, Dolce & Gabbana, Nina Ricci and Dion Lee also put the pedal to the metal with similar high-end versions for spring 2018, which could start hitting stores as early as next month.
And if you’re not ready to blow your budget on bike shorts, keep it effortless: Just fish an old gym pair out of your closet and pair it with a blazer.
Voila! Cycle chic.
