Tory has cornered the market on clean, clever sportswear. The collection this designer offered in Chelsea Tuesday was loaded with clean lines.

Fitted blouses, cigarette skirts, trim sweaters and sleek blouses were all the rage on the platform she used as a catwalk. Her whimsy came through in the patterns she mixed and layered, yet came across as complex, not complicated. These were timeless looks that would be at home on AMC’s “Mad Men” or cruising parties in the Hamptons.

Burch, who was the CFDA’s accessory designer of the year, let her talent run rampant with her accessories. The shoes were great, as were the bags, but it was the jewelry that was completely inspired. Her pendants ranged from a stack of medallions, each on its own gold chain (a nod to the Olympics, perhaps?), to a bold door-knocker of a jeweled breastplate. Any of these choices were brilliant.
