Wenlan Chia started her label with a colorful sweaters and accessories line in the fall of 2000. By 2003 she had completed a ready-to-wear line which she debuted on the runway at Gen Art’s Fresh Faces fashion show in 2003. While her fashion house is somewhat new, it has been a lifetime in the making. In Taipei, Taiwan, Wenlan took an interest in fashion from an early age and often experimented on her own. In 1991, after graduating from the University of Taiwan, she moved to New York to study art history at NYU and took a job at an art gallery. Her interest in fashion persisted and she enrolled in classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology, started designing her own clothes as a hobby and soon quit her gallery job to pursue fashion full time. Her label has generated following from young Hollywood celebs such as Mischa Barton, Jessica Simpson and Maggie Gyllenhall, all drawn to her chunky knits, delicate cashmere and feminine tweed designs.
