IT could be an Indian summer in more ways than one.

Queens of the wild frontier are playing cowboys and Indians, borrowing looks from the reservation and the ranch.

Fringe and tie-dye have been hanging around like a bad Woodstock ponytail, but those leftover hippie trends have been re-energized by a Native American twist on tribal jewelry, feather prints, new moccasins and Pocahontas cocktail frocks.

On the other side of the fence, cowboy boots had been strangely absent for the duration of a certain Texan president’s administration, but behold the first signs of a comeback. Joining them is the revival of the jean shirt and vest, down-home plaid, studded denim and rodeo leathers.

But you don’t have to be a good ‘ol boy or Cher circa “Half Breed” in 1973 to pull these off. Just a little wild at heart.
