When Jennifer Lopez showed up on last Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet in a caped, full-length Giambattista Valli mustard gown that highlighted a single slit, it almost seemed she was saying to the world, “Been there, shown that.”

“That,” of course, refers to her enviable figure, which she spent most of 2015 flaunting in versions of the now-ubiquitous “naked dress” during endless public appearances.

If it wasn’t sheer, skintight or cleavage- or ab-baring, she wasn’t wearing it. For her hosting gig for November’s American Music Awards — during which she changed her outfit a whopping 10 times! — seven of those looks fell under the naked-dress category.

The dress that Started It All was Rihanna’s gown at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards, a completely see-through, Swarovski-covered number that practically launched the career of designer Adam Selman.

Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian were also early adopters of the trend, as evidenced by their nearly-nude-off last May on the red carpet of the 2015 Met Ball.

C-listers such as Whitney Port and Kelly Rowland soon followed suit.

Which is why J.Lo’s Golden Globes choice is a welcome turning point: The naked dress has shed its shell-shocking value and has — ironically — become predictable.

Even Lady Gaga — who donned a sheer sparkly number for a date night with fiancé Taylor Kinney in late December — kept it covered at this year’s Golden Globes in black velvet Atelier Versace, complete with a Marilyn Monroe-inspired coif. Her throwback glamour secured her position on many a best-dressed list, proving that demure can be chic.

This all begs the question: What’s next?

A slew of influential brands such as Céline, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga offered up a new wave of lingerie-inspired wares on the spring 2016 runways.

Yes, the slip dress is officially back. But so is a sexy cropped bra top that, when paired with gender-bending loose pants and a beautifully tailored blazer, hits that stylish sweet spot.

J.Lo, we’re looking at you.
