Any fashion-savvy person will tell you that picking the perfect wardrobe takes time. But a lifetime of “this dress or that dress” can really add up.

Women spend, on average, six months of their working lives deciding their daily outfits, according to a new study.

Marks and Spencer, the UK clothing retailer, surveyed 2,000 British people and found that women spend about 17 minutes staring down their closets each day. Add up 17 minutes per day from age 18 to 60 and you get half a year of lost time, reports the Daily Mail.

Men, on the other hand, spend an average of 13 minutes toiling over togs, which comes to about four months of their working lives.

It’s no wonder Steve Jobs — always donning a black shirt and jeans — got so much done.
