Any girl with feet loves espadrilles and France gets all the credit. In earnest, many of them are made in the La Rioja section of Spain, where they are called “alpargatas” and have been part of the traditional dress for centuries. I still wear a few really old pairs of my mother’s that she must have picked up eons ago in Northern Spain.

Not only are they comfy and super cute, they are also made by an adorable Spaniard, Ana Calvo y de Luis who designs and produces them in Spain with some modern touches to the traditional shoemaking process.
