The backyard statue of O.J., made famous in scenes from last year’s hit TV show “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” is in the hands of an even more colorful cultural icon — Flava Flav.
The Public Enemy rapper once offered to give the bronze back to the former gridiron great, but O.J. refused, saying, “They [the Goldmans] would just take it away again,” TMZ reported.
Simpson has made a sport of dodging the $33 million he owes the families of murder victims Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman — a civil judgment now estimated to be nearing $100 million with interest. He has reportedly paid less than 1 percent of it.
In 1999, when Simpson was forced to sell his Rockingham estate to pay damages, radio host Mancow Muller bought the statue for $3,250. He gave the statue to Flav, who reportedly wants to sell it for six figures.
