At least this kid wasn’t trying to break into a bank.

A trespassing teen was trapped in the vault of an abandoned bank for hours before being rescued Wednesday in Hollywood, Florida.

Hollywood Police Department officials say the 17-year-old was apparently “exploring” the vacant Bank of America building with a pal when he managed to get stuck inside the airtight 14-by-14-foot vault, the Associated Press reports.

Armed with a cellphone, the teen’s bank-busting buddy called 911. A few hours later — thanks to some tax-payer dollars — his friend was finally freed when fire fighters managed to track down a secret code to crack the vault.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office Technical Rescue Team initially contacted vault manufacturers for advice on how to dismantle the two-foot-thick steel door, according to CBS Miami. In the end, it was trusty former bank employees who saved the day with the digits.

No charges were filed — and the smiling teen’s only comment was “we got trapped” as he hopped into the back seat of a waiting car.

“We’re told teen’s family was angry but happy he was freed,” CBS Miami reporter Carey Codd tweeted.

Hollywood Fire Rescue says they were able to contact the bank vault maker who sent employees to the bank. They used a combination for the vault to free the teen.

We’re told teen’s family was angry but happy he was freed. The teens didn’t say much as they left.
