The junk-food visionary behind the merger of Doritos tortilla chips and Taco Bell tacos has died after a battle with brain cancer.

Todd Mills, who spearheaded a grass-roots movement to make the product a reality, died on Nov. 28 at the age of 41, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Mills, a marketing executive, had an idea while eating a normal Taco Bell taco and watching a Doritos commercial on television in 2009.

“I looked at my wife and said, ‘How awesome would it be if this taco shell was a Dorito?’ ” he told the Arkansas Times.

Mills then lobbied the company and started a Facebook page to help generate excitement.

Taco Bell introduced Doritos Locos Tacos in 2011 and has sold more than 600 million since.

Mills never asked the company for compensation for the idea.
