The fashion industry is often criticized for promoting unhealthy body images. (“Don’t feed the models,” anyone?) But this year’s Fashion Week was positively snack-tacular.
Everyone from rising designer Snow Xue Gao to the established likes of Calvin Klein incorporated food and drinks into their foodie-friendly set designs. Read on for some of the tasty highlights.
Rosie Assoulin
Let them eat cake! Rosie Assoulin’s fall presentation, staged at Spring Studios, was stacked with tasty treats, including a crepe station, blue-dyed tea, hard-boiled eggs and cheesecake made to look like stained glass.
Calvin Klein
Designer Raf Simons filled the floor of the American Stock Exchange with 50,000 gallons of popcorn. While some of the well-heeled guests aired complains about the buttery residue left on their shoes, others delighted in the corny spectacle. “Twin Peaks” star Kyle MacLachlan even grabbed a handful off the ground.
Brandon Maxwell
Lady Gaga’s former stylist gives the people what they want! He served guests champagne sippy cups on silver platters at his show.
Snow Xue Gao
This emerging womenswear designer held her runway show at classic Manhattan dim sum spot Jing Fong. Chairs faced away from the round tables, which, naturally, had tea and dim sum placed on them for peckish showgoers.
Chromat
In a unique styling move, mini bags of Cheetos were bungee corded onto the hips of a model clad in orange leggings. Talk about a flaming hot look.
What Fashion Week diet? Bring on the carbs.
