Downtown restaurant king John McDonald is used to catering to the likes of actress Emma Stone and Mets pitcher Matt Harvey at the hot spot Lure Fishbar. But his side gig is Tasting Table, a foodie Web site for millennials with mouth-watering photography and beautiful graphic design.

The energetic, baseball-cap-loving McDonald now has another spinoff.

Friday, he launched restaurant-search app Dine in Apple’s app store. The free app will slim down neighborhood restaurant recommendations to ones his knowledgeable foodie editors would recommend. They span the high-priced outfits to the corner taco shack, with aggregated reviews from the most influential critics.

While McDonald’s many happening restaurants will be included in the venture, the app will obviously point customers in the direction of his rivals.

McDonald’s partners are iHeart boss Bob Pittman and co-founder and CEO Geoff Bartakovics.
