Starbucks’ latest featured drink has left one barista gagging.
Kay, under the user name @kayli.cernan, starts off her video by looking at a list of featured drinks. She then makes the “cold brew with lemonade” with a look of disapproval.
After taking a sip, she gagged.
“New featured drink…… immediately no,” her clip on TikTok was captioned.
The video has racked up more than 1.3 million views.
Other baristas took to the comments to also explain their disdain for the drink.
“I was already horrified when I first saw the weekly update,” one barista commented.
“No but when you sip the first taste is kinda good and then the long lasting aftertaste is HELL,” read another comment.
Another person wrote: “It was traumatizing to try.”
The barista did sample the drink before gagging. TikTok/@kayli.cernanThis is not the first time the drink stirred up controversy. It was roasted for being a “barista pick” in February. Barista picks are exclusively available to Starbucks Rewards Visa Card members eight times a year, according to a Reddit thread by one of the chain’s baristas.
A Reddit thread went viral, with Starbucks baristas claiming the drink was “a sick joke put out by corporation.”
Some people tried to come to the drink’s defense by offering some modification ideas. For example, adding less lemonade.
“A spritz of lemon in iced coffee is a game changer but half lemonade in a cold brew is a felony,” one person commented.
“It’s good with raspberry syrup,” another person commented.
