Lower Manhattan continues to soar — attracting residents, big employers and the service industries to keep them well fed and entertained.

The latest upscale restaurant to flow into the Financial District to serve the neighborhood’s under-served and growing luxury residential community is Sauce & Barrel, an upscale pizzeria bar at 97 Washington Street.

The 7,000-square-foot space has 150 seats spread over two levels, along with private dining rooms and a bar area.

The chef, Mike Paez, formerly worked at La Sirena, Betony and Altamarea.

The cocktail program is run by Jack Zemke, formerly of The Modern, The Edition and Betony, who will be house-aging the spirits in wooden barrels.

A “Bull” oven creates many a unique pie, including a pickled-pepper pizza with soppressata and pickled shallots, along with homemade pastas.

The concept comes from FiDi restaurateurs Jerry and Telly Liberatos and childhood friends, fellow restaurateurs Luigi and Sal Romano.
