Wedding cakes are sweet and all, but one baker from Philadelphia couldn’t help but wonder, where’s the beef?

Sam Jacobson, chef and owner of Stargazy British bakery, is becoming famous for his tiered, meat-filled “wedding pies,” according to Food and Wine.

The magazine is calling his creation the next big thing in wedding cakes.

Jacobson, a London native, got the idea when some of his regular customers asked him to make them something unique for their wedding. He decided to go the savory route, with pork in all but one of the layers (that one’s vegetarian, for non-carnivorous guests). Jacobson says it took him about 12 hours to make.

“Wedding cakes tend to be an afterthought,” Jacobson tells the publication. “But they can be really good, depending on how much thought you put into it. They can be anything you want them to be.”

A small but important step for the wedding industrial complex.
