You can be in an Empire State of mind, but what about an Empire State of sleep?
For the first time ever, people will be able to bed down in a hotel-style suite in the Empire State Building. The cost: $1,500 for the overnight experience, transportation not included.
It’s a rare opportunity to stay inside New York’s iconic 102-story tower, which has contained only office space and retail shops since its completion in 1931.
The lucky person with the fastest reservation-making fingers on Wednesday morning will nab the 77th-floor suite for themselves and a guest the following night. Built out by travel e-commerce company Booking.com, the space has city views in three directions.
Inside the suite’s living room.Booking.comAdditional perks inside the 4,000-square-foot suite include a 70-inch LCD television, a pool table and a kitchen with a Nespresso machine. Guests will also get dinner on the observation deck, access to a personal gym and a tour led by a private guide.
This unusual chance is part of a promotion for the site’s “Book the US” program. It allows users to stay in unusual places during other nights of the year, from a lighthouse in Somerset, Mass. to an adult-sized treehouse in Loudonville, Ohio.
