She’s got the dirt on effective facials.

A woman on TikTok sparked controversy after claiming that the dirt from her backyard keeps her skin as clear as a $50 mud mask would.

The 21-year-old, who goes by the username @theoffgridmom, has been sharing her radical lifestyle with her 23.3 thousand followers on TikTok for over a year.

One of her videos, in which she expresses disdain for expensive skincare, struck a nerve with users on the platform and has raked up nearly four million views.

“The problem with our first-world society is that most would get grossed out at me rubbing mud from my backyard on my face and hair, all while raving about the newest 50$ mud mask from their favorite brand,” she wrote over the video while smearing dirt from her garden on her face and throughout her long hair.

In the caption, she added: “In case you were wondering how I keep my skin so clear. #selfsustainability #firstworldproblems #consumerism #offgridmomma.”

People were quick to comment with health-related concerns, shaming the off-the-grid mom for her unusual habits.

“Did this as a kid and got ringworm,” one of the 13,000 commenters wrote.

“I was trying to save money and did this one time and got ringworm,” added another concerned commenter.

A third snarkily wrote, “Just smile and nod,” and another asked, “Is this real?”

Others, however, were much more supportive of the unique practice.

One comment, which received a like from Lillie herself, stated, “no because I want to be your friend now … people are so brainwashed now.”

“Babe, you have inspired me so much! I love that you are using nature’s resources,” affirmed @333_.lyrica.

Lillie has since responded to the backlash with a care-free video of her dancing.

“There is a discrepancy of fear between the materials that have been here since the dawn of time and man-made chemicals that are used daily by citizens,” she captioned a video while twirling around outside in a jean skirt and blank tank top. “At the end of the day, I end up having to use some of these things in my own life. I can acknowledge there’s risks to everything, even driving a car. Do what you will, and I’ll do the same.”

On the video itself, she wrote: “I guess most couldn’t understand the purpose of this message was [that] people like to acknowledge one and not the other.”
