A British teenage mother surprised everyone when she returned to school, got her General Certificate of Secondary Education and celebrated with her special prom date — her infant son.

Ashleigh Hazelton, 16, of Ipswich, Suffolk, got pregnant when she was 14 years old.

Throughout her pregnancy and the first year of having a child, she continued to keep up with her academic work and was ready to celebrate alongside her Westbourne Academy classmates at prom.

Hazelton got all glammed up and rode to the gala in her limo, like an average teen, but she stole the show when she arrived with the most adorable prom date, her 1-year-old son Lorenzo.

“I got out of the car and everyone came running up to me, chanting my name and crowding around us. I felt so loved and supported, but Lorenzo and I come together now so it felt right,” Hazelton told Caters News Agency.

Her mother, Haley Tricker, 38, filmed the heartwarming moment Hazelton and Lorenzo arrived in a now-viral video.

The young mom was nervous on her way to the venue because she had kept her cute prom date a secret but was met with a warm welcome when she arrived.

“Everyone was very shocked and surprised. I remember hearing loads of friends saying I was melting their hearts which was really cute,” she said. “Although people said it was brave, it wasn’t a massive deal to me — I just did it! I really enjoyed the entire evening and it was such a special moment for me.”

The special moment was also shared with her mother who was overwhelmed by emotion and pride watching her daughter and grandson walk into the prom.

“I cannot even explain quite how proud I am of her. Yes, she had a baby at 15, but she also went back and sat her GCSE’S six weeks after giving birth,” Tricker told Caters.

“She has already received some results and passed with flying colors, which is amazing. She kept up her studies, and then came home taking to motherhood so well, too.”

Tricker said things went smoothly helping her daughter get ready, but she couldn’t hold the tears back when she watched them get out of the limo.

“She got a great reaction from everyone, and it was so nice to see her friends supporting her. The teachers were also amazing, too, and of course, Lorenzo got a lot of attention,” she said.

“My mum lives in New Zealand which is why we recorded this video. Obviously, I’ve had some negative comments on TikTok, but I’ve just deleted them. We’ve had 98% really nice, really genuine comments which has made us all so happy!”

After enjoying her prom, Hazelton has left school and plans to study public service in college with the hopes of becoming a firefighter as she continues to raise her son.
